Daisy, Daisy

Good evening! I do hope all you lovely readers are ok, are you surviving the eternal winter better than I am? If you are reading this and you don’t live in the UK, you might not be aware we haven’t had a fully sunny day since Spice Girls had their last number one. Or at least that is what it feels like *crying face emoji*.

Today I thought I would share with you all a little insight into the private life of ‘Just Hollie’. When I chose the name for my blog I thought this fitted perfectly because it does what it says on the tin; it is just me, Hollie, no frills or fanciness. Just one woman’s views on the world and what I have to say about it. This being said, I’m not ‘Just Hollie’, in the sense that I have a nickname which I hold dear in my heart. My nickname always has been and always will be, Daisy. This is a nickname given to me at the tender ‘ole age of two, possibly three, by my Mumma. I was a cute little kid (if I do say so myself) and I have always been a girly girl. I love fairies, flowers and Disney princesses, this hasn’t changed from an early age until this very moment. It was probably this girliness that spurred me in to getting the nickname Daisy; I lived in a beautiful flat with my mum and dad from birth to aged nearly four and in this flat the carpet in my room was patterned with daisies. I loved this bloomin’ carpet more than I can ever remember loving anything and so the nickname was born. It has only ever been my mum that has called me this and she rarely calls me anything else, much to the confusion of eaves droppers wondering why I am answering to a name completely different to my own.

As I have gotten older, since moving out from my family home and now with my Mum moving further away on the south coast, it seems this nickname is more important than ever. I also really have developed an obsession with anything with this cute little flower on over the years: My signature scent is Daisy by Marc Jacobs and I very rarely wear anything else, Mum buys me a bottle twice yearly – One for Christmas and one for my birthday. This year I was luckily enough to be treated (again, by my beaut of a Mum) to the most amazing Kate Spade bag emblazoned with the words ‘Oops a daisy’ in sparkly letters. I nearly cried with disbelief when I saw it, instantly in love.

Not going to lie to you, I don’t know why I am telling you this or why I think that you will care, but I just felt it was an important part of ‘Just Hollie’, to know who exactly Hollie is. So please excuse my ramblings but I think it’s about time we got to know each other a little better don’t you? Do any of you have nicknames with sentimental value, I would love to hear about them? More to the point do any of you own anything amazing with daisies on that I must see? (Please say yes and send me countless pictures).
