I’m not getting married, but if I was, I would totally be interested in what I’m about to tell you. There is a new business which launched this week by a wonderful woman local to me here in Norfolk, called The Little Horse Box. This is exactly what it says on the tin, it is a horse box but it has been converted into the perfect mobile bar ready to serve your guests until their hearts desire (or they drink the horse box dry) and they travel all over the country, so even if you are reading this and you don’t live near me, read on! I really do love supporting local businessmen and women so I am happy to be able to tell you about Liddy and help her launch this great venture. I admire people who follow their dreams and are brave enough to throw themselves into a new opportunity, it is so inspiring to see ideas grow into a successful business! So, if you like what you see and you are interested in hiring the horse box, do let her know as I can really see the bookings flying in, so best get in there fast! It is available for hire all throughout the year so even if you aren’t having a summer wedding or event (they don’t just cater for weddings, they can serve at most types of occasions) you can have a slice of this shabby chic heaven. I recently spoke to Liddy, the owner of The Little Horse Box to get to know her better and find out a bit more about it, here is what she had to say…

Liddy, welcome to Just Hollie! Would love it if you could tell my readers a little bit about yourself?
I’m a working mother of three; I’m mum to Freddy, Lilac and Johnny and wife to Jason. We live in Norfolk, where I run my luxury mobile wine bar business, The Little Horse Box. I love meeting and talking to new people, so helping brides-to-be achieve their dream wedding day is the perfect job for me. I am passionate about entertaining, and love cooking for friends and family at home. I’m also partial to a glass of Prosecco (or two!), and have a keen interest in vintage interiors.

When did you first get the idea to turn a horse box into a bar? I wish I had that sort of vision and imagination!
I’ve always dreamt of owning my own business and it was my husband who encouraged me to take the leap. I can remember it well. It was a Sunday back in June, and I was sitting on the sofa dreading the next morning. Jason said to me that if I wanted things to change, I ought to think about the things I loved doing. I adore cooking, so this was my starting point. I was thinking about buying a little café, then I saw online that someone had converted a horse box into a coffee shop. I really liked this idea, but wanted to put my own stamp on it, so I decided to convert a horse box into a luxury mobile wedding and event bar.

I would love to hear about the process of changing it into a bar – Did you have much help from tradesmen or was it an amazing DIY effort?
We were actively involved in the whole restoration process. My husband works in the construction industry, which is handy, but we also needed to draft in some local craftsmen to help with the steel work, some of the carpentry, and the electrics. My role was with the finer details, making it all look pretty, from the up-cycled wine barrel sink and Moroccan-style flooring in vintage-inspired pinks, blues and greys, to the LED colour-changing lighting and traditional hand-painted sign writing.

So, I think the million dollar question I really would like to know is – What drinks do you serve?! Are you a cocktails and frills type of bar, more real ale and cider? Maybe local tipples?
Our main repertoire is luxury wines, sourced locally where possible, and, of course, Prosecco (my favourite!). Having said, that we do offer bespoke beverage packages and can serve pretty much anything the client wants, whether it’s beer, cider, gin and tonic, mulled wine, or even tea and coffee!

What type of events do you see yourself being hired for?
We specialise in wedding celebrations, but can cater for all kinds of special occasions and events. As we offer a personalised service, we can tailor our horse box to suit your individual requirements. Our colour-changing LED lighting can be set at a colour of your choice, while the box can even be dressed with flowers or signage to complement your party theme.

Imagine I have hired you for my wedding day, what can we expect? Set the scene for us…
As each event is unique to us, we would firstly like to hear about your big day, from the venue and number of guests, to your theme and favourite tipple. We would then have a chat about how you would like your drinks to be served and presented, and go from there. We can assist with everything from arrival drinks and toasts, to reception drinks and glass refills, with a choice of nibbles to accompany your chosen tipple.
