Procoal Activated Charcoal Exfoliating Face Scrub

Is there anything that feels more satisfying than using a face scrub? Not for someone like myself with oily, problem skin there isn’t. It was rumoured that Marilyn Monroe washed her face up to 15 times a day to keep it clean and to minimise blemishes, but I’ve got something slightly more practical for you lovely lot! (FYI Marilyn I feel you, sometimes at work my face feels so awful I could stick my head in the sink, oh to have non-greasy skin I tell ya!).


I was lucky enough recently to be gifted a tube of Procoal’s new face scrub, which as soon as I squeezed a blob onto my hand I knew I would love. Full of gritty yet gentle pieces of pumice and charcoal which make you feel like its really doing something to your skin. These ingredients work alongside Allantoin and Calendula Oil which are the more silent skincare saviours, I can honestly say it makes your skin feel clean, glowy and makeup goes on smoother as a result. Operation glowing summer skin

My skin isn’t the best.
I mean, it is supple, protects my body and I know it will age well, but all in all I’m a  big ole oil slick. I have always had an issue with spots and greasy skin since I was around 11-12 years old and at the ripe age of 25 I am still waiting to ‘grow out of it’.
As with most people my skin is sometimes better than others but I am really conscious lately as I plan my wedding (it’s next year) that I want it to look in tip top condition for the day and forever thereafter!

I have been fairly successful with improving the amount of blemishes on my squishy little face so I thought you might like to hear about it! I’m not reinventing the wheel here, it’s pretty basic stuff but I think sometimes we need reminding of the basics as there is so much noise out there in the beauty world but sometimes we need to take a step back.


Step 1) Water 

Told you it was simple steps didn’t I? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, mainly to myself mind you. I go through phases with water – sometimes I’ll get through the day on several cups of tea, a wing and a prayer and sometimes I’ll be the picture of #healthblogger and drink 3 litres. I have been a lot more consistent lately drinking 1-2 litres a day, starting from first thing in the morning and ending with a glass of water in bed and I genuinely feel better for it as well as looking more awake!
Do you ever get the clammy feeling where your skin feels a bit oily and you can feel a breakout coming on? That used to be me most days and I accepted it was my horrible skin but I actually think it’s just dehydration! Now, if I feel that my skin is lacklustre and I’m feeling sluggish, I chug a glass or two of water and it’s like I’m a flower which has been watered!
I challenge you all to up your water intake continually for a month and you’ll get used to feeling more hydrated and you will definitely notice in future when you need to drink more. Clever our bodies aren’t they? Continue reading


Or Burnham Market to you and me, is one of the single most lovely places I have had the pleasure of visiting in the UK. It is nicknamed ‘Chelsea-on-Sea’ mainly because of the amount of Londoners who have chosen to make this Norfolk village their home, or at least second home. It is easy to see why it has gained this name after spending a few hours here – there are Range Rovers aplenty, complete with glamorous looking women sporting a blowdry and Mulberry arm candy (me, jealous? Never). That being said, it has all the charm of a typical North Norfolk village with its flint houses, quaint independent shops and a beautiful church. There is something magical about this part of the country, I fully intend to retire there, as close to Holkham beach as possible!

Is this the beginning of the end for body shaming?

I have a couple of confessions to make before I get too into writing this post:

1) If you read this you will know that I was meant to be going to my first blogger event yesterday morning and I was real nervous, yet excited. So there I was all glammed up (it was 10am and I was fully dressed and makeup was on, so for a Saturday morning my meaning of glam is slightly skewed) and got in my little car and drove into the fine city of Norwich. Hello you little lovelies! I am going to start this post by apologising for my lack of writing lately, I have been super busy and as much as I want to I just can’t seem to fit everything in. If beauty is only skin deep, you’re gonna want reallll nice skin!

So i’m quite a low maintenance kind of woman. I am not up for 1 million different face oils, serums and gels 3 times a day. I’m just not. If you want that sort of beauty advice then sorry this blog isn’t for you. I am however really good at simple, real advice that you can actually follow and will make you look and feel better 🙂
I have been making a big effort lately to be the best version of me I can be; I started off the year with my confidence at an all time low, I felt so drab and just bleurgh. Since then I have given myself and my self esteem a kick up the bum and a new focus on my skin has been part of this so, I thought I would share it with you! Cambridge in the sunshine

Walking around Cambridge on a sunny Wednesday afternoon, spring is in the air but also there is the faint feeling of intellect around me. There is nothing quite like a walk around Kings College to make you think about how you really should use your brain for more than working out if you can afford the bag AND the shoes once in a while. If you have never been to Cambridge, watch the ‘Theory of Everything’ and you will instantly know what I mean. Everywhere you turn the city oozes class and culture, it is one of my favourite places to visit, whether it be for a relaxing walk on a sunny day or an almighty shopping trip (the shops are just fab!).
