Wedding series, 4: THE WEDDING!

Hi, hello, bonjour. Just me, Hollie, a married woman here. Yes, you read that right – I GOT FUCKING MARRIEDDDDDD!!!!!!
To say I’m still not over it is an understatement, newlywed highs are 100% a thing. I thought I better round off my wedding series by letting you all know how the day went and I also really wanted to give a shout out to my amazing local suppliers – so if you live in Norfolk/Suffolk and are getting married I hope you find this helpful (list and links at bottom of post).

I’ll begin with a little play by play of the day, because we were the luckiest couple ever and everything went perfectly. This includes the weather as the very next day it absolutely TIPPED it down – I’m sure you saw the reports of flooding last Sunday and probably had a back garden like a pond yourself. Could you imagine if that was the weather on your wedding day, someone was definitely looking down on me for sure!
I got ready at my home with my mum and my best friend who was also my bridesmaid – I had one adult and two gorgeous nieces walk down the aisle with me, the little ones met me at the church as my sister in law is an absolute legend and got them ready for me. The morning was chilled and calm, with me surprisingly a lot less nervous than I had anticipated being, I think when it came to the day I was actually just really excited to get going and see Daniel at the church. They won’t thank me for saying it but I think my mum and bridesmaid had more nerves than me – I found myself trying to assure them that it was going to be a fabulous day and nothing to worry about! I feel honoured that so many people close to me cared enough to have such strong emotions about our day, something I will never forget. Continue reading

Wedding series, 3: The dress

It’s been a while since I last wrote about my wedding plans (read my proposal story hereΒ and my first visit to a wedding fair back in FebruaryΒ here) so I thought I would do a bit of an update for those of you interested!
I can’t believe my last wedding post was 9 months ago back in Feb, it honestly seems like just mere weeks ago I was writing that after my first overwhelming visit to a wedding fair. The scary thing is, it is only just longer than the distance between then and now compared to now and my actual wedding! It’s under a year to go now and I know it’s going to just fly by – really time to ramp up the planning I think, eek!

(Quick note by the way – I struggled for pictures to put into this post as I obviously couldn’t post pics of my trying on my wedding dress, so I’ve sprinkled this with pics of my all time favourite famous wedding looks. Let me know your fav in the comments, I would love to know!)

I haven’t completely been resting on my laurels – on top of the venue and church which was all I had booked last time I wrote about this we now have a photographer, stationary, florist, DJ, decor/prop hire and most importantly I HAVE A DRESS!!! That’s really what I wanted to write about in this post today, because it’s just a dreamy as you would imagine trying on all of the beautiful dresses and prancing about like a princess! Wedding series, 2: The planning begins…

Happy Sunday! I hope you’re all enjoying this cold but gloriously sunny day, how rubbish is it that it’s meant to become virtually arctic next week – I am SO ready for spring to rear it’s beautiful head already.

Anyway, this isn’t the BBC Weather website, I’m back with the second instalment of my wedding series.Β  I hoped you enjoyed reading about my engagementΒ – now is where it starts to get serious and the seemingly enormous task of planning the damn thing begins!

It is so hard to know where to begin when planning a wedding, there are a million and one things to take into consideration and knowing which order to do them in isn’t obvious. With the logistics of it all, the colour scheme, the budget, the timeline – it can all get a bit much and you do have to be super organised. My best friend Lauren has just bought me one of those cute wedding planner books and I feel it will super seed her in the best friend stakes and not leave my side! I’ve left a few links to ones which I like below (all Insta worthy of course!) Continue reading

Wedding series, 1: I said yes…!

Now I don’t know if you’ve noticed but I’ve been leaving hints here and there that I’m currently a bride to be. By hints I mean I’ve literally added ‘Bride to be’ into my twitter bio, changed my cover photo to my engagement ring and generally spoke about it at every possible opportunity since coming back to blogging. Subtly does it.
So I have decided to put you out of your misery and announce to the world that I AM GETTING MARRIEDD! WOOP!

Since I was M.I.A last year and didn’t get a chance to tell you about the most magical evening of my life to date, I thought I would do it now. And actually, I am going to document the whole planning process in my new wedding series – I plan to update you around once a month (don’t worry, I won’t bore you with it all of the time).

So, back to the proposal. It was special, personal, unique and everything I had always hoped it would be. Boy.Done.Good.

The launch of The Little Horse Box

Flowers – check. Venue – check. Dress – check. Drinks served from a horse box converted into a beautiful bar – check?!

Little Horse Box_72.JPG

I’m not getting married, but if I was, I would totally be interested in what I’m about to tell you. There is a new business which launched this week by a wonderful woman local to me here in Norfolk, called The Little Horse Box. This is exactly what it says on the tin, it is a horse box but it has been converted into the perfect mobile bar ready to serve your guests until their hearts desire (or they drink the horse box dry) and they travel all over the country, so even if you are reading this and you don’t live near me, read on! I really do love supporting local businessmen and women so I am happy to be able to tell you about Liddy and help her launch this great venture. I admire people who follow their dreams and are brave enough to throw themselves into a new opportunity, it is so inspiring to see ideas grow into a successful business! So, if you like what you see and you are interested in hiring the horse box, do let her know as I can really see the bookings flying in, so best get in there fast! It is available for hire all throughout the year so even if you aren’t having a summer wedding or event (they don’t just cater for weddings, they can serve at most types of occasions) you can have a slice of this shabby chic heaven. I recently spoke to Liddy, the owner of The Little Horse Box to get to know her better and find out a bit more about it, here is what she had to say… Continue reading
